Is my AML Digital Capable?
- Would you like to add new services?
- Would you like to increase revenue?
- Would you like to get connected to the digital world?
Opportunities are available today to complement and expand existing analog services with "HITS" to create
a digital / analog hybrid service. Taking advantage of the economies of scale of a National Digital Delivery System, like "HITS", cable operators can integrate a wide range of digital revenue generating services with one system using their existing AML infrastructure.
Results from independent third party field tests have proven AML links can carry 64 QAM digital signals and out-of-band carriers. Channelized systems 20 years and older as well as the earliest version of broadband equipment, can be upgraded to support these new services. Solutions can be determined by information provided in the upgrade chart.
AML Wireless offers upgrade kits for any existing Hughes/AML Wireless equipment in the field today.
Considerations for adapting your AML microwave system for digital use include:
- Source and XO Phase Noise
- Delay time/frequency response
- In/out-of-band distortion output levels
- CNR
AML Wireless Systems current line of broadband products already meet these criteria. For those mature systems that don't, AML Wireless offers upgrade kits and solutions that allow you to modify your system in the field.
Solutions for expanding your mature AML equipment to support additional digital services include:
- Multiplex a digital-ready broadband transmitter into your existing AML channeled transmitter array.
- Replace channelized transmitter array with a broadband transmitter manufactured for digital service. Pay for the equipment with savings in maintenance, space and power.
- Add a digital-ready channelized transmitter to your existing array. Upgrade bandwidth of transmitters and receivers to accommodate out-of-band digital TV control carriers.
